This past Saturday, nineteen of our Rocket band members competed at the Region 11 Honor

The McAuliffe Band broke two all-time school records during this event. For the first time in our
history, five students placed in the top 3 on their instrument. Also for the first time in our history,
five 7th grade students qualified for the Region Honor Band.
The following students all qualified for the Region 11 Honor band, and have the distinction of
performing a concert this coming Saturday. We would like to recognize these students for their
accomplishment:
On Clarinet: Miriam Vazquez, Daliyah Paredes, and Evelyn Davila
On Bass Clarinet: Senovio Reta
On Tenor Sax: Daniel Cruz
On Bari Sax: Chris Chavez
On Trumpet: Jaydn Gonzales, Madilyn Gaona, and Nathan Garcia
On French Horn: Emily Correa
On Euphonium: Justin Lopez
For the first time in McAuliffe’s history, the band had five 7th GRADE students qualify for the
Region Honor Band: Chris Chavez, Nathan Garcia, Jaydn Gonzalez, Daliyah Paredes, and
Miriam Vazquez
Finally, for the first time in McAuliffe’s history, the band had 5 students place in the top 3 on their
respective instruments.
Placing third on their instrument and earning a Bronze Medal, congratulations to:
Daniel Cruz on Tenor Sax
Justin Lopez on Euphonium
and
Madilyn Gaona on Trumpet
Placing 2nd on Trumpet and earning a Silver Medal, congratulations to:
Jaydn Gonzales on Trumpet
And, placing 1st on Bari Sax and earning the coveted Gold Medal, congratulations to 7th Grader
Chris Chavez.
There were four students that came extremely close to qualifying for the band, and
were named as alternates: Juan Zuniga on Euphonium, Michael Sanchez on flute, Dylan
Ramirez on French Horn, and Gabriel Gongora on Alto Saxophone.
